Mayor Kelly Spratt
Kelly Spratt was born in Athens, Georgia and raised in the north Georgia mountains. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia in Anthropology and a Master's Degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University. She was elected to the Darien City Council in 2005, and won the mayoral race in 2007. Along with her husband Jeff, she owns and operates Open Gates Bed and Breakfast in historic downtown Darien. Their children, Hannah (born in 2000) and Hank (born in 2004), are regular visitors to City Hall.

Councilman Joel Williams, Mayor Pro Tem,
District 1
Councilman Joel Williams was born in Tattnall County, Georgia, and was raised on a farm in Glennville. He is a graduate of Glennville High School and attended Brunswick Junior College. Joel served in Vietnam and has recently retired from International Paper. He was elected to City Council in 2003 and reelected in 2007. Joel is currently married to Janet, a retired school teacher, and he has three adult children: Kerry Waters (Glennville, GA), John Williams (Fairhope, AL), and Leah Williams (Valdosta, GA) and three grandsons.

City Manager, C. Brett Cook
C. Brett Cook currently serves as City Manager for the City of Darien, a position he has held since July of 2005. Brett is a graduate of Georgia College with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is a graduate of Leadership Southeast Georgia. Brett is also a member of the Georgia City/County Manager's Association (GCCMA). Brett received the Harold Holtz award from the GCCMA in 2005. In 2006, he was named to Georgia Trend Magazine's Top 40 under 40 "The Best and the Brightest." Brett is married and currently does not have any children.
