Notice of Property Tax Increase – Tax Year 2026

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The City of Darien has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 6.79 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at City Hall 106 Washington Street in the Bluestein Meeting Room on September 17, 2026 at 10:00 am & 6:00 pm. The time & place of  the additional public hearing on this tax increase is at the same location on September 24, 2026 at 2:30 pm. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 3.100 mills, an increase of 0.197 mills above the roll-back rate. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 2.903 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $49.25 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $19.70.
